/Site Info/
This site was made using a tag-team effort of Dreamweaver and Frontpage. It views best in either full-screen mode 1024x768 or regular mode 1280x1024. Firefox is recommended, but IE works just as well. I'm honestly not sure about other browsers. But feel free to tell me if you find anything. Navigation can be found on the left hand side of the screen, just click on any of the links you see there./Q&A/
Who the hell are you?
My name is Anita Wiebe, though more often on the "interweb" I am referred to as "Hoshi". I've also been known as "That chick who did 'Angel Tears'." (Though that project is still in what I like to call "cryogenic hibernation".) Currently I am working on the projects you see here. I'm twenty years old, born November 26th, 1985 and I've been drawing comics since I was six or seven. I am a born Canadian, currently living in Calgary, Alberta. Though you should probably note that I don't usually spell things like a Canadian, which is something most of my teachers hated me for. Enough information for you? Good.
Where do you get your style? / Can you do a tutorial?
I get my style from a combination of trial and error and reading too much Kosuke Fujishima. Particularily Oh!/Ah! My Goddess. I've always pulled bits and pieces from what I've seen and liked though, using it to blend and form something sort of unique. As for the tutorial bit... I might stick one up on the site, that is pending I find the time and energy to. Don't expect anything mind blowing though.
What's your process? / What tools do you use?
Basically, I like to put on music first. Music is a big part of inspiration for me... Then I sit down and draw the scenes I need, never in any particular order. I use a standard HB pencil for sketching out lines. Brand? Dixon Ticonderoga. I like the lead and it's easy to erase. For erasers I use a Papermate "Tuff Stuff" brand mechanical eraser for finer lines (though I've been told by a friend that Tuff Stuff isn't available in the US. A Staedtler mechanical eraser woud work just as well in that case.) and for larger bouts of erasing I use a Staedtler eraser, standard rectangle. For inking I use Pigma Micron Micropigment inking pens in 0.5 and 0.3 widths. Scanning is done with a HP 1210 Printer/Scanner/Copier, coloring is done in Photoshop. That is about it.
What is this "Kamishibai" stuff?
Kamishibai is a Japanese storytelling format, which was turned over to electronic format by the fine folks at Otakuworld. I've been making them for well over six years. Tales of Moryia, now Legends of Moryia in comic format, was my first completed story. For a more detailed explanation go to The KamiCross. Which is sort of our community's propoganda site.
