CRITERIA
The jist of the Kami Piquant is to have as
many people as possible create an original one-shot (or series starter)
kamishibai. Then once all entries are in, Maiden Co. will host the kamis
for about a week and give everyone a chance to vote on the best entries.
The winners then being chosen by popular vote and a panel of judges.
This gives everyone who is interested a good amount of time to
participate in what hopefully will be creative and festive kind of atmosphere for
the Kamishibai savvy and those who are simply curious about Kamishibai
in general.
Rules
 | There is no entry fee, although there will be prizes
awarded. This is being financially supported by Maiden
Co. |
 | You are allowed to have partnerships in order to enter. However
only one prize will be awarded so you'll have to split it if you do
win. |
 | There is no limit on the number of entries you can submit.
Those who DO submit more than one entry will receive bonus points. |
 | Your story must be more than 8 drawn, photographed, or rendered
images. If you use stick figures then you will need at least 16
images for your Kamishibai story. |
 | All entries must be primarily in English. |
 | Stories must be complete. Which means that they should have a
beginning, middle, and ending. |
 | Kamis must meet all the submission requirements for OtakuWorld.com.
If the webmaster there does not accept your entry then it can't be
judged. If you think it's unfair then please contact the contest
coordinator. |
 | Poetry collection kamis are of course allowed, just be sure they
fit the challenge. |
 | Kamishibai games are definitely something we look forward to. Just
be sure that the game has some kind of definable ending and fits the
challenge. |
 | All entries need to be new. No kamishibai submitted before Sept
27th are eligible. |
 | There will need to more than 4 entries in order for the
competition to take place, but you don't have to enter just for the
prize money. You can submit your own kamishibai just to add to
the atmosphere of the contest. In other words, you can participate
"just for fun" too. ^_^ |
 | Your entries will be hosted for a short period of time for the
"popular vote". If this is a problem please let us
know. |
The Challenge:
Now here's the challenge. Your entry must be based on the Tarot
Card "The Page of Cups". Meaning you have to have either based
it on a part of the upright meaning or the negative meaning. Here's
the definition of the card you'll be using:
Page
of Cups
Upright Meaning: Could represent
a melancholy and passionate young person, studious but may be
given to flights of imagination. Willing to render service to
others. If this card does not signify a youth, it will mean the
person you're doing the reading for is drawn to the arts, is
given to meditation. May also signify news or a message. Perhaps
the birth of a child or a proposal of new business
methods.
Reversed Meaning: Lack of motivation or desire to
create. Diliettanism. Good Taste. Seduction. A deception may
soon be uncovered. Obstacles. Unpleasant news.

FINAL NOTE
As the people in the community will tell you
Kamishibai is a nice and easy way to take your stories and characters,
put them into an interesting format, and then share then with
others. This competition is given the name Piquant for a reason
and all in all it's your originality and ability to make a kamishibai in
the allotted amount of time with the most creative presentation that
stands front and center. We hope to see as many participants as
possible, so even if you don't make a kamishibai entry be sure to check
back and take place in the popular voting portion of the competition
which will give you a chance to take a look at how varied kamishibai can
be.
For those planning to enter it must be mentioned once again that this
is about your creative vision. It doesn't have to be in a manga style,
and can be a kind of fanfic if that is what you wish to create. Just be
sure that it fits the challenge criteria.
So please be sure to spread the word about the contest as far as your
voice can carry it and let's get an influx of as much participation as
we can handle.
Thank you,
Maiden Co.
